A charter-plane crash leaves our twelve young characters alive but stranded, ill-prepared, and very much alone in the uninhabited wilderness of northern Canada with slim chance of being rescued anytime soon, and no almost chance at all of walking out to civilization.  Rick Wells, with a few more years and a lot more wilderness savvy under his belt than the others, knew they had two choices:  Fall prey to the adverse circumstances, as most would do.  Or they could take it as an opportunity to create a better way of life from scratch; one without the human greed, power-structures, politics, crime, drugs, and corruption prevalent just seven hundred or so miles away.  The wilderness offered nothing or everything, depending on how you saw it, and ultimately their fate would be a product of their own making.
