New Members:  Please be aware that LewisAire encourages new members to become active with staff and management positions within the airline

Onward we go:  Please accept a hearty and sincere welcome from the LewisAire staff and from the other members!  Whether you are an experienced Simmer or installed Flight Simulator 20 minutes ago for the very first time, be assured that you'll find a home and plenty of enjoyment with LewisAire!

We hope you'll discover and appreciate that LewisAire is (we think) the easiest virtual airline in the industry to join!  But...even though we've kept member requirements to the barest minimum, there are a few basic guidelines that help to assure continuity and smoothness for yourself, the Staff, and for other members.

We strongly encourage new members to take some time and browse the website before getting started.  Get a good feel for who and what we are, our region of operations, the aircraft we use, and the missions we fly.  As you progress, you will acquire the image that LewisAire is a wilderness bush-flying operation offering enjoyment for just about any flyer: Short hops to service the remote towns and settlements within our region of operations; Few-hour flights transporting guests to and from our own (and other) resort lakes within the region; Med-Evac flights and Lease-Charter flights with the bigger aircraft that take us all over North America!  But even with that wide range of operations, you'll note there are no jets, helicopters, aerobatic planes, or whiz-bang aircraft with glass-panels and features I can't even spell.  This is intentional, and it will not change.  We have a purpose, and our operations and equipment support that purpose; if something isn't needed to carry out a LewisAire mission, it doesn't belong (or exist) in our inventory.

While it is not our goal to burden members with cumbersome schedules and other requirements, it should be understood that LewisAire is not merely a library or download center where one grabs a file and runs away to play in solitude.  LewisAire replicates --as closely as possible and practical-- a working operation that requires periodic interaction and involvement from its members

As with any operation, there is a flow and "orderliness" of how things happen at LewisAire, and I'll try to outline that here in its simplest form.  Compliance with the following basic guidelines will assure that you, the Staff, and other members, will experience the most enjoyment from LewisAire with the least amount of confusion, chaos, and frustration.

1.  Familiarize yourself with the website.  Learn what is needed and where to find it.

2.  Download and install the necessary files you'll need, and make sure everything is functional; you cannot function as a LewisAire pilot without having the LewisAire scenery and aircraft inventory fully operational.

3. Download and install Teamspeak.  This is a free, powerful, easy-to-use tool that allows actual voice communications between Operations-and-Pilots and between Pilot-to-Pilot.

4.  Familiarize yourself with Flight Simulator Multiplayer mode.  This is essential; many of our operations require pilots to be in Multiplayer and Teamspeak.

5.  Once LewisAire is fully operational on your computer and if Flight Simulator, grab a mission or two from the Flight Schedule board and go flying!

6.  We require a Trip Report to be submitted after completion of each flight:  Do this; get the hang of working with our procedures, and even though it's only practice and orientation for you, you'll be paid for it and you'll start to accrue flight time!

7.  HAVE FUN!  And following the basic guidelines above will pretty much assure that you do.  It's your airline now, so get involved
