This
is the part I don't care for. I wish we didn't have to cover this
ground, but without a basic sense of direction and general operating policies,
LewisAire (or any such enterprise) would soon become a chaotic mess that no
one would enjoy. So we do have a few basic guidelines and policies that
help to maintain the character, integrity, and personality of LewisAire, and members are expected to comply.
Please read them carefully.
1. We do not use VATSIM or IVAO at LewisAire.
2. LewisAire aircraft and scenery files are downloaded by the member, installed, and tested for
functionality as soon as possible and practical after enrollment.
3. LewisAire is structured as a working airline: Regular, active participation from members is required,
with respect to your real-world schedules and other personal commitments.
4. The use of personal or other non-LewisAire aircraft is not permitted for Multiplayer or other LewisAire
missions or operations.
5. LewisAire facilities (Multiplayer server, Teamspeak) are limited for use only with LewisAire aircraft for
LewisAire-related flights.
6. Third-party add-on tools (such as FS Navigator and other special navigation software) that conflict
with standard LewisAire practices, are not permitted in joint LewisAire missions or functions.
7. Members are expected to carry out flight missions on a timely basis (whether taken voluntarily or as
assigned by Operations), and to submit a Trip Report soon after the flight is completed.
8. Members are urged not to tamper with aircraft or flight files, or to use any other means to circumvent
that which was created and intended for the purpose of enjoyment and realism.
9. LewisAire requires the use of Teamspeak. Members are required to install and activate Teamspeak at
the earliest opportunity, and to become familiar with Multiplayer flight.
10. Emails and other communications received from LewisAire Admin should be answered as quickly as
possible and practical, when a response is required.
11. Flight Simulator offers many automated features, including a long list of multi-key shortcuts that
circumvent and bypass the fun of flying an airplane and managing a flight as it was intended to be
done. Bush pilots in real airplanes do not use keyboard shortcuts to manage the aircraft and the
flight, and neither do we at LewisAire; the use of shortcuts is flatly disallowed in joint LewisAire
missions. Using shortcuts personally and privately is your own choice, but promoting the use of them
to other LewisAire members is not allowed.
12. As a simple matter of loyalty to the airline, soliciting LewisAire members to participate in non-LewisAire
events or with other airlines is not allowed.
13. Increasing the "Simulation Rate" in order to expedite a flight is not allowed. If you don't want to fly for
extended periods, then take flights that are shorter in duration.
14. Members are not authorized to use LewisAire aircraft, scenery, flights, or other files, with any other
virtual airline.
15. The act of disbursing LewisAire files to any non-LewisAire member is absolutely forbidden.
16. Your login name and password are private and exclusive for you only; sharing your access with a
non-LewisAire member (or Trial Member) is forbidden.
LewisAire is intended for those who wish to actively participate in enjoying who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We are a wilderness bush-flying operation, with aircraft equipped to carry out the missions we perform, but our operations are intentionally geared away from “buttonized”, automated flying. We incorporate various elements of automation, but pilots are taught the basics of simple navigation and instrument use, if necessary, and are expected to learn and comply with standard LewisAire practices.
Summary: One shouldn't expect a warm welcome by trying to play baseball at a tennis match, and one shouldn't expect a warm welcome at LewisAire by trying to change the character and general theme of LewisAire as it was designed. Just as any other virtual airline has it's own style of operations, LewisAire also remains steadfast in insisting that members maintain and support the spirit of our particular hobby. Many airlines police and control your every move, but LewisAire has a different philosophy: We put total trust in your integrity and honesty; please don't betray that trust.
